Reset Your Thinking

 About me

Hi, I am Mel. I have 4 great children and we live in Northern Tasmania.  I have worked in, and developed and delivered training in the Community Services sector for over 20 years, including in Disability, Aged Care, Child Protection, Juvenile Justice and Training. I have a Bachelor of Social Science (Criminology), Masters in Child and Adolescent Welfare and Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Legal Studies.

Over the last 16 years I have been practising mindfulness for my own self-care. During this time I have completed a Graduate Certificate in Applied Mindfulness and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindful Self Compassion (MSC) courses.

I have found practising mindfulness to help me in so many ways both personally and professionally and I want to be able to share these techniques and assist others who are so busy taking care of everyone else, juggling work life and family and desperately trying to find some type of balance in their lives.  We might not always get it right, and it may not be perfect but there are so many things that we can do with some mentoring, guidance and support to avoid burnout and vicarious trauma in the workplace and missing out on fully experiencing our time both at work and outside of work as well.  Some guidance for practice, showing ourselves some patience and compassion and resetting our thinking can make some really positives shifts in our thinking and in all aspects of our lives.

Mindfulness can be such a great help to support our Mental Health. In addition to offering Mindfulness practice I am a licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor and can deliver the Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course face to face, Standard Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) course face to face or online as well as the 4 hour SMHFA Refresher Course so you can extend your accreditation if you have already completed the SMHFA Course.  You can find more information on this amazing course if you click here: Mental Health First Aid
